Palestinian-American Adolescent Released After Nine Months in Israeli Detention

A American-Palestinian teenager after completing 270 days in imprisonment by Israel without charge has been freed.

Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 when he was arrested this past winter throughout the West Bank territory, where he was visiting while residing in Florida for allegedly throwing stones toward Israeli settlers, claims he consistently denied.

The US state department expressed satisfaction with the teenager's freedom.

Currently aged sixteen, required hospitalization upon gaining freedom, according to close relatives.

According to them, he appears pale, underweight, while battling health issues contracted in captivity.

Through an official statement, Mohammed's uncle conveyed their "overwhelming sense of relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"Currently, we're concentrating on ensuring Mohammed receives the immediate medical attention necessary for his recovery after being subjected to mistreatment by authorities and brutal treatment for months."

American authorities said it would continue to provide consular support to Mohammed's family.

A group of American legislators submitted a formal letter to diplomatic officials and the White House, requesting additional efforts for his freedom.

Mohammed's parent, parent of four children who runs an ice cream business from Florida, had earlier stated Mohammed acknowledged allegations to throwing stones due to physical abuse.

There were no visits or spoken to Mohammed since the arrest, and only heard about his son's condition in detention through court documents.

The teenager remained absent formal charges in Ofer prison throughout the occupied territory.

It is also home to adult prisoners, featuring prisoners sentenced of serious terrorism offences and homicide.

An estimated several hundred young Palestinian detainees being held in Israeli jails, per correctional service statistics.

Many have never been charged and human rights groups, including UN bodies, report instances of physical abuse and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, the uncle stated relatives would persist in advocating seeking justice for their relative family member Sayfollah.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen according to health authorities died from beating by Israeli settlers following tensions last July.

During that period, military authorities reported officials were investigating accounts of a Palestinian was deceased.

Both young men were employed together within the family's frozen treats establishment from Tampa.

No one has been charged with Sayfollah's killing.

"We anticipate US authorities to protect our families," Mr Kadur said.
