Indianapolis Colts Face Atlanta Falcons in German Capital – NFL Week 10
Guten tag, fussball enthusiasts. How are you? Everything good I hope on this excellent early start to the tenth week coming straight outta Germany. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be precise where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the powerful Colts (seven wins and two losses) take on the Falcons (three wins and five losses). The fifth game played on soil in Germany and the initial in the capital city.
Pre-match Highlights
When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A minor slip from Sky Sports there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the presenter with an unfortunately hot mic.
So, the Colts have won the toss and have chosen to get the ball first. Daniel Jones and company will be taking the field soon. Can the quarterback recover after a difficult performance in their last game?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the Star Spangled Banner has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are bound to notice. Loving the sartorial choices today. We are almost underway after a choral number for the German anthem. Elegant.
Opening Period Gameplay
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
Here we go! And we have early drama after Jonathan Taylor catches a screen pass, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the ball retrieval. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the drama keeps coming as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The risk doesn't work out as the wide receiver cannot reel in a fastball from Jones. On the play before the turnover on downs the Falcons defender put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. Atlanta's defense started strong as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Touchdown Updates
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That moment reflects the first round pick’s career to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only gets worse for the Atlanta as they cough the ball back to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. Michael Penix Jr is hunted down and can’t keep hold of the ball.
A nifty 22-yard run from Ashton Dulin sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the next snap. The placekicker misses the point after attempt. Mistake.
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by marching his Falcons down the field for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the seas part for the running back to saunter on to the goal line through the heart of the field for 13 yards. The running back finishes it off for a short scoring run of his own. Advantage Atlanta.
Other Week 10 Games
And for afters, the full slate starting at 12pm CST/1pm EST/6pm GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:
(5-4) Panthers v New Orleans Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Chicago Bears v New York Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Houston Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)
(2-7) Miami Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)
(4-4) Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)
(1-7) Jets v Browns (2-6)
(6-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers v New England Patriots (7-2)
An exciting lineup. My pick for the best game is the Vikings and Ravens playing out the game of the day.
