FC Barcelona Set to Play First Game at Renovated Camp Nou over the weekend
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition over two years following their departure so building work could begin.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.
Preparatory Events
The club conducted a fan-accessible workout on the home pitch earlier this month. The club said approval is being pursued by UEFA to host the next European match versus the German side next month at the stadium. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
