Expedition 33 Triumphs at the 2025 Golden Joystick Ceremony
The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards unfolded this past week, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the most decorated winner. The surprise role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive won the coveted Game of the Year award, along with honors for Outstanding Narrative and Best Visual Design.
Adding to the studio's achievements, its gifted cast also garnered individual awards. Jennifer English received Outstanding Lead Performance for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Best Supporting Actor for his acting as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive itself received Top Studio. Overall, Clair Obscur and its makers achieved 7 awards during the show.
Other major winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which won Best Audio Design and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Outstanding Independent Game and PC Game of the Year. Worth mentioning, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the gamers, with only 4 special—Critics’ Choice, Rising Star, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamers’ Choice—judged by critics.
